Phosphor is a key material for lamp and displays, which can convert certain type of energy (electrons, photons, electric fields) into visible light. We are focucing on desinging new phosphors for white light emitting diodes (LEDs) using the spray pyrolysis to control the emission properties as well as the morphology of phosphor particles. Recently, we applied the spray pyrolysis to prepare oxynitrides which are known as a good LED phosphor. It was proved that the oxynitride phosphor could be prepared by the simple aerosol route. We have also tried to develop high efficient up-conversion phosphor (UCP), especially oxide-based one, and applied to dye-sensitized solar cells and emissive pearl pigments as a security materials.
